Working with shellac and metallic pigments for an affect that’s really hard to photograph… Makes for a delicate magical affect that I find hard to believe is created with stuff from the local hardware store!

Just can’t get enough of the whole melting wax and oil paint together. To feed the addiction I bought a new fancy encaustic griddle which makes everything a million times easier… like my dad always said “any job is easier if you have the right tools”… such wisdom!

Quite a few encaustic pieces have found their way to happy homes these past weeks and I am truly happy!! I’v been working more with the medium lately as it just has such a soothing affect on me. Not sure why, but it just relaxes me to watch the wax melt and take on a life of it’s own.

I Love the smell of bees wax and the magical way it transforms when melted. Channeling the beauty of a summer day I dusted a soft gold powder through out which allows for moments of interaction between the piece and the viewer.
