How busy I have been!!! Working large, exploring and just discovering! Stepping out of my comfort zone and putting the work out there into juried competitions, festivals, and gallery submissions. So far the results have been a mixed bag of being completely ignored and winning some awards. I’m ready to take the many losses needed for the few hard won wins!
I have found a happy groove working with the wax …Some pieces are on wax coated with shiny metallic pigments that add the sense of magic and otherworld-ness I look for in my work 🙂 Happy to be painting!
Halycyon Days 16.5 x 21.5 (metallic gold pigment, oil and encaustic
Blushing Ways 10x1ox1.5 (pigmented wax)
Always Believe 10x10x1.5 (pigmented wax)
Rhapsody 18x24x2 (pigmented wax)
Songbird 12x12x1.5 (metallic silver pigment, oil and encaustic)
After a Summer and Fall of playing and experimenting with wax and the variety of mediums it is compatible with, I feel I may have finally found the vehicles to work with wax in a way honest to my creative way and artistic self. These are the results I am hoping to carry further into 2016. So happy to have this sense of direction with my encaustic practice as we close out another year 🙂
1. So Many Blessings 12 x16 (pigmented wax & Pan pastels)
2.Blessed Days 12×16 (pigmented wax and Pan Pastels)
3.Beauty Reign 27×40 (pigmented wax, cold wax and oil)
Just can’t get enough of the whole melting wax and oil paint together. To feed the addiction I bought a new fancy encaustic griddle which makes everything a million times easier… like my dad always said “any job is easier if you have the right tools”… such wisdom!
